How do I make brown rice not so “Plain and Blah”?
I like to cook my carbs up for the entire week and I do a mix of Wheat Berry, Red Quinoa, Brown Rice, and Kamut. Many people dislike the plain taste of these carbs and might like to add a chicken stock or broth to the boil to give it a less “blah” taste. The problem with the addition of some kind of stock base is the sodium content. Try taking a can of pineapple (chunked or sliced) and pouring the 100% juice in to the boiling water before you add the carb or mix of your choice. The natural sugar gives the grain a sweet taste and makes it much more palatable at a healthier price than the high sodium option. Now get to prepping and organize your meals.
